Design Problem
I was tasked with taking an existing product and improving it to increase usability and customer retention.
Design Solution 1
The addition of a resealable lid enhances the usability of the energy drink by providing customers with the flexibility to consume it at their own pace, addressing caffeine consumption concerns. The resealable lid also promotes on-the-go consumption, catering to the needs of a busy lifestyle and seamlessly fitting into various daily routines.
Inspiration
I took inspiration from club settings where glasses are difficult to put down, and encourage users to drink their beverages quickly. Reverse engineering this idea was where I came up with the resealable lid. Drinking caffeine too quickly or in high doses can cause health concerns for consumers, so adding a resealable lid removes the pressure of finishing the drink in one sitting.
Design Solution 2
Updating product labeling to communicate health risks associated with energy drinks demonstrates a commitment to transparency and empowers consumers to make informed choices. This not only safeguards customers but also ensures compliance with regulations, reducing the risk of legal issues. Collectively, these design changes contribute to an improved user experience, aligning the product with customer values, needs, and ease of use. Proactively addressing health concerns and enhancing user-friendliness builds brand trust, fostering customer loyalty and increasing the likelihood of customers choosing the improved product over competitors.
Model
The product I chose is a classic Redbull can. I created the model re-design and product animations from scratch and in Blender. I then took these animations and added the other advertisement elements in Adobe After Effects.
